Character Sketch
Dr. Scott Reardon
Born
—1 Aug 67
Prep School—Saint Sebastian, Class of 1985

Dr. Scott Reardon went to prep school at Saint Sebastian’s (Class of 1985) and college at Duke (Class of 1989). He then attended Johns Hopkins Medical School and graduated in 1993. His internship and residency was at the NYU Medical Center 1993–1998. In 1998 he joined the Tyrone Medical Center staff.

Scott is one of three primary physician’s at the hospital (along with Dr. Harrison and Dr. Chu). Scott was a couple of years ahead of Andy and Patrick at Saint Sebastian’s. Andy and Scott weren’t close in school, but have struck up a friendship since Scott joined the hospital staff. Scott took on Mary Catherine as a patient in the fall of her senior year when Mary broke her arm (previously Mary Catherine was a patient of Dr. Harrison, who is the official doctor for most of the girls at Saint Francis. Dr. Chu is the primary physician for most of the boys at Saint Seb’s).

Scott sees the mutual attraction between Andy and Mary Catherine, but hasn’t said anything to either one of them as yet. Andy, Scott and a bunch of other guys who graduated from Saint Sebastian’s get together at Scott’s townhouse in Tyrone two Friday’s a month to play poker.

He’s single, very tall (6'8") with light brown wavy hair and hazel eyes. He was a basketball star at Saint Sebastian’s, on his way to play on scholarship at Duke and possibly the pros when he blew out a knee in his senior year of high school, which effectively ended his career. During his rehab is when he got interested in medicine. He had the grades to go to Duke anyway, still LOVES basketball and plays in a local competitive league. He also likes to sail and play golf and tennis and cook. He’s not seeing anyone currently, but his preference runs to tall, shapely blondes and he’s always searching for “the one”. He likes kids and dogs. He has a pair of black labs . . . Cameron and Duke (the names are nods to his love of basketball and his alma mater) Cameron is a female . . . Duke, obviously a male. He’s planning to breed them soon and keeps telling Andy he should really get a dog.

While the Tyrone hospital is a small one and the doctors on staff are primary care physician’s (general practitioners), Scott has an extensive background in orthopedics. He’s an excellent doctor . . . caring, compassionate and very gentle. You can tell how much he cares for his patients. Scott is also a champion of Mary Catherine. He is VERY protective of Mary and he sees just how innocent she is, even when Andy doesn’t. He defends her fiercely, and will eventually play a key role in Mary and Andy’s story.
